Note: Eleftherios Venizelos has replaced Hellinkon as Athen's international airport. While it is located three times as far from the city as the aging Hellinkon -- in Spata in the Attica region northeast of Athens -- it is new and a noticeable improvement over the former airport. And it is served 24 hours a day by a fleet of express buses on four routes, most departing every 16 or 25 minutes. A suburban rail line is scheduled for completion in 2003.

Approx [euro]18-20, 45-60 min. Queue starts at Door 4 and extends to Door 1. Tip 10-15%. 60[ct]/bag. Double fare midnight-5 am. Some cabs A/C. At start, make sure meter set to "tariff 1" (or "tariff 2," midnight-5 am).

All fares are (euro]4, except as noted. Express Line E95 to Syntagma Sq (city center) Every 25-30 min 6:30 am-11:35 pm, then every 15-20 min to 1:30 am and every 30-35 min to 6:30 am, 45-60 min. Express Line E94 to Ethniki Amina Metro Station (for free transfer to train) every 16 min 6:40 am-9:05 pm, then every 25-30 min to 11:20 pm. Express Line E96 to Piraeus cruise port every 20-25 min 7 am-10:05 pm, then every 30-40 min to 7 am, 45-60 min.KTEL Express Line to port of Rafina Every 40 min 6 am-9:20 pm, with one stop at Loutsa. NOTE: Express Line bus ticket is good for 24 hrs on all Athens public transportation.

Express Line E94 (above) connects with Metro at Ethniki Amina Station.
